Ok, this is the basic jist of it all.
1. On the back the VY rails there is 2 brackets held on with studs and a small ammount of weld, these brackets need to be removed. Once removed you will notice the rails are different lengths, the longer rail will have 3 holes in the end of it and the shorter rail will have 2 holes. The longer rail with 3 holes in it drill out the centre hole to 8mm. The shorter rail with only 2 holes in it drill out the rear hole to 8mm.
2. Get a piece of sheetmetal 450*450 to use as a template, drill 10mm holes in this at one end that match up with the front holes in the seat rails, then drill holes in the other end of the sheetmetal that match up with the 8mm holes you drilled in the rails. This template should now be able to bolt on the base of your seat.
3. you will need to purchase either 4 of 10mm*100mm set screws, or 4 100mm lengths of 10mm booker rod. You will also need 8 10mm nuts to be able to adjust the set screws with.
4. Place the screws thru each of the holes you drilled in the template with 1 nut on each side of the plate on each of the screws.
5. Remove your ****ty VL seats
6. Use the template to work out exactly where the bolts are going to go thru the floor to mount your new seats, cut away the carpet where the bolts are sitting(the bolts need to sit straight on the floor not on carpet) also adjust the bolts so that the template sits flat and level. Use the bolts to mark out where you have to drill the holes in the floor to mount your new seats and drill these out to 8mm. You might be able to utilise some of the existing front seat bolt mounts.
7. lift template out and measure the length of each bolt from the bottom of the template face to the bottom of the bolt. You will need to cut 4 pieces of tube the same lenght as these bolts to act as spacers under you new seats. I used what is called 25mm medium black pipe, which has an outside diameter of around 33mm.
8. Each of the pieces of pipe you have cut will need to be welded onto the base of your new seats in the correct position as measured from your template.
9. Cut out 8 pieces of sheetmetal at least 3-4mm thick and 50mm*50mm square, place these squares over and under the new holes in the floor and weld into place to help reinforce the floor.
10. Using a Torx screw bit, remove the VY seat belt mount including the airbag deploy mechanisim.
11. Using 8mm HIGH TENSILE CAP HEAD screws and nuts bolt your new seats in. You will need to use cap head screws because they have a head diameter of less than 13mm so as to be able to slide inside the rails.
12. repeat all over again for the seat.
13. Once there both in it is very easy to wire up the drivers seat so as to be able to adjust it if necessary. There is 3 wires in a white plug under the drivers seat, you will need to put battery power to the RED wire and earth the thicker black wire. You will then have full electric adjustment of your new seat.
