The back windows in my VY are not electric. Do you guys know if the chrome ones from supercheap, etc would fit? Also I'd be interested to know whether the old chrome Kingswood ones would fit, there is that small plastic washer on the VY ones. I reckon the chrome ones would look better than the black plastic crap. Cheers for help.

I don't know but perhaps it would be easier to spray paint the originals with something like White Night Super Chrome. ($20 per can down here).
If you really want the best professional finish one of those companies that do chroming finishes on plastic materials like engine covers etc would be the go. One such firm advertises frequently in either Just Cars or Unique Cars Mag. Doubt it would really be worth the cost though.

Thanks for your reply, Sean. I might pull one of the winders off and go see if the wreckers have any ones in good condition that fit.
Any one else know about those fancy ones they have in auto stores? I reckon they are a bit of a rip for thirty odd bucks, but maybe one day I'll get some. This type all look the same, like one size fits all, if thats the case then I thought the older chrome Holden ones might fit.

Hey Sean 880, what's the White knight super chrome like? All the experience I had with chrome paints years ago were shit, have they finally perfected a chrome paint? I know White knight is a good brand as I've used the normal enamel paint on other jobs.

I tried the white night on some worn furniture knobs that had been originally spray chromed to look like metal but were actually a plastic material under the finish. I did about 14 of them and they came up bright silver. They look fine but it's not the same quality as the original mirror spray chrome finish that was used.
In any case I prefer semi gloss silver on modern car interiors .
I think if you want a really durable paint there are options like the high temp / flame proof spray can coatings in various silver shades and gloss levels. I used one of these few years ago - in gloss finish - on the roll bar of a race car I was refurbishing. It was hard paint, never lifted, and always looked good.
Best thing is to try your preferred product on some plastic samples and see how it comes up before you paint the winders , if you decide to paint.
If you really like the mirror chrome finish I think the professional spray chrome finishes are the way to go on plastic. A shop in QLD that I am aware of, that have a spray chrome facility, is Geezers on the Gold coast .

Thanks mate. I'm not really a fan of the chrome spray, never looks like the real thing eh. I will just wait and get some fairdinkum chrome ones off another type of car and go that way, cheers for you help though.
