Hey all just wondering if there is a measurment I could go of for my front disk rotors, if they need to be replaced. I have no viabration when breaking. Just have a little squeeling noise when breaking.
thanks.
Check by phone with your Holden Dealer service department. They will tell you what minimums they use. By looking at the rotors you can also see how much wear has taken place from the lip on the edge face of the metal. If in doubt replace them as good quality rotors for VYs are not expensive. Stay away from the el-cheapo rotors though.
Squealing is usually due to the pads. Check the brake pads for thickness though. Cheap pads will often squeal according to the brake specialists and Holden service guys I have consulted with. Decent quality ones never do in my experience - not even slightly and after years of wear.
Descent pads do squeal too, i run Bendix Ultimates in mine with Slotted cross drilled rotors and they squeal under light braking due to composition of the pads.
The minumum thickness is stamped in the top edge of the rotor, tho its probably rusty and hard to read.
Just ring up PBR brakes or someone and they will inform you what it is.
As stated best ot use DBA rotors not cheapos D

My VY had some Chinese rotors fitted by the dealership when I told them the original ones were undersized and warped. They have been fine so I am not convinced you need to pay a heap more for DBA or PBR rotors. I think RDA and some of the DBA range come from China anyway, probably the same factory as my plain boxed Argents.
