hey guys im thinking of changing my roof lining to black and just wondering if vy calais came out with black roof lining and trims? ive had a look at a few but most are cream.... maybe series 2 are black?
if they're not would vz calais' lining fit into a vy or not?
thanks
Good question, I'm not 100% sure in what model they started bringing them out in, but definately VZ's, (it will fit straight in, but will need the front light/sunglasses holder and loom) I'd imaging that all the VY would've had them?
Hopefully PaulSV6 see's this thread, because he's done the conversion already, so he'd be the guy to ask what models etc... (maybe P/M him?)
yeah i pm'd him already, i just wanted to know what models in the vy range had them
and i already have the sunglasses holder since mine is a series 2 so thats no issue, although i'd obviously get a black one haha
i have black in my vy ss
i have series 1 ss and it has the cream roof lining it looks so out of place on a black car with red and black seats so i would also be interested in how to do this conversion when you do yours
My Series 2 VY Calais has black roof lining - any other colour would be just wrong with the black leather.
"You want fast, reliable and cheap ? You'll find a Commodore out there that can provide any two out of those three!"
mine is also series 2 and has black leather interior aswell
I honestly havent lookedI got a series 1 calais
Ill have a looksie bit later and post up
All series 2 Calais had black roof lining and interior pillar trims, handgrips, visors etc as standard. They could be optioned with either black or cream leather trim, though I seem to remember that they still had cloth trim as standard. It was only when the VZ came out that the leather interior became standard.
My series 2 wagon has black trim, red leather and white pillars and roof lining.
So yeah dont think just cause its series 2 its gonna be all black.
i saw it tooshame hes in nsw hes got all the trimmings for it too!
i think i'll just buy the roof trim, handgrips and sunvisors and then vynal die the rest of the plastics i already have, ill have a look tomorrow and decide
Hmm, I'd have loved to get that black hood lining and it's not too far away - just bad timing with other commitments.
Why not get an old cream interior trim like a door pillar cover at the wreckers and try the vinyl dye trick first to see how it comes up, before you stuff any of your existing trims?
I painted all my trims, jesus handles, sun visors and sunnies holder black and glued black fur to the headlining. Any type of material could be glued to the h'lining, though. Just have to be careful not to let the glue come through by using too much.
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'

I belive PaulSV6 used the black lining in a vz calais![]()
