There's a setting called police mode

Not exactly sure where its located as holden took 5 mins to find it and I lost track.

You go into instruments, then programming, then configuration.
In configuration,"Police mode" will be set to "No",change it to "Yes" and confirm program.

Is there a program or anything that needs to be downloaded off the gm website at all? Some people here at work seem to think each car needs its own download or something like that

Why ask the question if you don't listen??
My response told you exactly how to do it.
You only need to get onto the GM website to SPS (Service Programming System) program a module, you don't need to do this though.Just follow my instructions and you'll be sweet

Ok unfortunately another question. After initial connection and initial scan it picks everything up showing engine codes and crap like that, but it gets to a point where there isno communication. Is there something that isnt being done correctly?

Do you just have a scan tool that picks up codes only or do you have the unit that holden have that can manipulate the data

Yeah,is it a genuine Tech2 or just a generic scan tool?
It sounds to me by what you've said, that you are not using a Tech 2.
Take a pic of the scan tool and post it up here.

Yes whitey is does. So would there be any reason as to why it wouldnt be communicating? I will take my vy into work tomorrow and connect it up again, and i will go to exactly the options you have stated so as to not get it wrong.
