Hey I've searched for about an hour and I can't seem to find an answer... I've seen people using the 1,2,3, on the automatic as a way to manually select the gear... I know its stupid, if you want to do that buy a manual... I was just wondering if this would do much damage to to the tranny???I have no clue and was just wondering, because now that I'm on my red ps with an automatic licence, in NSW, I have to wait before I can drive a manual, unless I pay another 80bux and do my test again, and considering I've only ever driven a manual twice, I'm not sure I'll pass...
The occasional change is ok but they're not designed to be used like a manual box. They'll go bang eventually.
righteo thx mate... only keen for when r....g because yeah, its not holding second long enough, just stops at 90
Check your throttle position sensor, mine holds 2nd until ~125kmh.
The selector is only really useful if you want to hold a gear at a constant speed - i.e. going up a big hill with a trailer use 1st or 2nd, or cruising on the freeway with a trailer use 3rd.
shifting like that with a bit of revs will damage the gearbox blows very quick in a v8
ah man i hope you mean legal racing??
cus its p platers that do illegal racing and crash that make it hard for other p platers
like me....
haha yeh using the manual gears will absolutely destroy ur box if you do that
mate has a 92 celica stock.. hates manuals to the end of the earth but wont drive his without changing gear with the selector. he has had the car 4 years and been through 1 gearbox and this next 1 os nearly stuffed.. and he drives like a granny 2.
in otherwords.. lol good fight gearbox.
This all changes if you have a stage 2 shift kit yes? Because that is the semi manual kit?
Cheers.

you should really get to drive a manual, much more fun and once you've got the knack you don't even think about it it's just like automatic reflex,ya savvy, plus you can drive anything any time
yeah.. righteo... already working on getting a manual... i had a close-call and it definetely scared the living daylights outta me.. slowed right down... so yeah.. no worries any more...
