Which wire do i tap behind my headunit for the remote wire for my aftermarket amp?
I tried tapping the yellow cable and it did not work.
Right now im using the 12v behind the cigarette lighter but i want to remove that and use the propper accessory wire.
Thanks.
Car is a 2004 Calais with Blaupunkt Stereo.
How are you connecting the amp to the headunit?

Hi to low converter?

Low converter tapped into the back right parcel shelf speaker in the boot
Cheers
On aftermarket stereos the hemote wire is usually blue I believe? But don't use the aerial wire (often also blue but with white stripe) or you'll get no amp when on CD.
Factory units don't usually have a remote wire - so the yellow accessories wire would usually be the correct wire - but you say that didn't work?

Yes well i tried tapping into the wire down the side, however i wasn't sure it was the correct loom.
Whats the best way to get to the yellow wire, i removed the head unit however behind it there was only some plugs and no wires.
If i tap into this Accessory cable will the amp turn off when i turn off the headunit?
Thanks.
That plug is the wiring loom - the ACC yellow wire will be attached to the back of it. There are 2 clips on that plug, push in those clips and the plug will fall out to the back.
Then remove the side dash panel (passenger side) and you should see the wiring loom - splice your wire and tap in there.

take off the steering wheel shroud get urself a test light (or somebody that knows colours) and hook a wire to the accessories wire on the back of the ignition barrel and run ur own wire.
You need to remove the steel shell that the factory head unit slides in to - behind that is where you can get at the loom.
Tapping in to this cable will not result in the amp turning off when you turn off the stereo - it will have the amp turning on/off whenever you turn the key on/off. Factory head units have no remote wire for aftermarket amps. Therefore, if tapping in to the stereo loom is difficult, just tap in to any accesory cable - tapping in to the cigarette lighter for example (as you have done) will achieve the same result as tapping in to the yellow wire on the stereo loom.

Ok cheers, i have tapped into the Lighter 12v
However im getting a constant HUMM when the headunit is off and the amp is left on.
Im not sure whats causing this issue but its rather annoying
You could put a switch on the remote wire. Try a more solid earth on the amp?

You will have to open up the headunit to get a remote that turns on/off with it. Afaik the headunit always has power and the BCM tells it to turn on/off.
Here's where Preddy's mod gets power from (red wire - will turn on/off with headunit):
It would be wise to use this to run a relay, or add a current limiting device in series with it (e.g. 100mA light bulb) to prevent a short damaging the unit.
Ive got my remote wire connected to the spare fuse of the accessorys... and the amp turns on and off with the headunit.
Im pretty sure the vy is the same as vz. Passengers side of ur centre console u'll find a mobile phone hands free jack that runs through ur head unit tap into the yellow/whiteline wire easy as
