    Default Sticking accelerator

Just started getting a sticking accelerator that only happens when the car is cold,it seems like the first 10mm of pedal movement.Have used my old motorcyle cable oiler and given both cables a lube from under the bonnet.
Doesnt always do but is annoying me.
Wonder if the throttle body needs a dose of cleaner ?.
    Ideas please.

    Regards
    Fred

Yep the throttle butterfly can stick due to carbon buildup. I have come across it a few times. Use some carby cleaner or similar and it fixes the problem.

^^^^ As above, I had this problem not long ago, and fixed it by removing the throttle body and cleaning up the butterfly.

I had the exact same problem and just had to clean the throttle body to fix it. I left it on the car and just used a bit of petrol and a soft brush. I tried this first with the intention of removing it for a clean if it did not work, saved me the time needed to remove and refit the throttle body.
If your going to use carby cleaner remember not to spray it directly on the IAC valve or TPS sensor.

I had the same problem on mine. Was a loose screw that holds the butterfly in place.

Iv got this problem at the moment and i knew the throttle bodies were clean and yeah i tighten that little screw underneath so it pushes the butterflies i tiny little bit an now it doesn't stick at all.

i remember when this happened to me. the car had been sitting out the front for a few weeks, hopped in it, started it up, straight into drive and put my foot down. The throttle locked into position and i went screaming down the street. scared the s**t out of me but safely came to a halt. these days in any car i drive that i haven't before, i check the throttle before i switch it on. At the end of the day all it needed was a good clean with some carby cleaner.

All fixed the butterfly had a black ring of sticky crap which when closed was causing the sticking throttle.
Give it a good dose of throttle/carb spray and had a heap of rags under to catch the sludge, thought i was hosing out a heavy smokers lungs.

    Thanks all
    Fred
