go spool and youll love all driving sensability and the police will love you, especially if you have to do a 20point turn out of a concelaled RBT so you dont go chirping tyres infront of 5 of the fuzzes finest

just take it to a diff shop and get them to rebuild it. Every stock LSD from holden is dusted after about 25k of hard work, so any decent shop will have rebuilt one a thousand tiems and know how to make a decent one. Theyll replace the spring, as they lose about 25% of tension after 25-50k of, and throw sum shims behind the sun gears to tighten it all up

As far as oil will go, changing it wont stop it open-diffing. but believe the hipe and throw some royal purple diff oil into it. Or, if the diff shop has some other advice, do what they say

Absolute nonsense. I have had plenty of Holden LSDs in various Commodores and have never had a problem with any of them (including the optional LSD in my current vehicle) and it's not luck of the draw.

You will damage an LSD or other diff by ABUSE - just like virtually any other component on the car.

Sensible driving - as they are meant to be driven - will give you no problems. Oh and by the way, all the damaged Holden diffs I have seen have all been subject to some form of significant abuse. No surprises there.

put a 8.15 into it. #### this 3.9 shit. it will out accelerate a ####en ferrari to 100kph. but #### driving it on the highway! lol.

nah seriously 3.9's are great. and if you can afford it, get a KAAZ diff. will last 10times as long.

LSD's are designed for normal spirited driving to help get drive out of corners etc,
They are "NOT" designed for twin wheel drag style takeoffs and as such to many burnouts will destroy the lsd cones quick smart.
If you are doing lots of burnout take offs then spools are the best bet otherwise just get the lsd rebuilt.

    Avoid KAAZ. Plastic
Grab a Trutrac centre, from Harrop. Mechanical LSD. All the benifits of a spool, without the attention from the fuzz.

Best option if you have a grand to spend... Wish I had that sort of money how ever I will just stick with a rebuilt and shimmed LSD I found on eBay for $350.

I reckon helical LSD is the way to go. That's what i'll be getting when my open diff dies in the arse.

You'd be surprised what certain diff oils can do. If there's too much friction modifier premixed or added into the oil it will be very unpredictable and unsafe... This is from first hand experience as well as input from other forums.
