    Default Cruise control "clicking."

Hey fellas, ever since I got the VY, I noticed that when I disengage cruise, there's a distinct click sound coming from under the bonnet. Had the car four years now and it doesn't bother me, and I've had no issues with it. However, yesterday I noticed it makes a similar noise when I activate cruise as well, questions are: Is this normal? Is there a way to lubricate or adjust something to rectify the sound? Cheers.

Coming fault and issue.. You'll need to raise the unit up from the body as the unit would just be touching.. There is a Techline on that I could dig it out if you wish (PM)

Well, I tried the above suggestion and no cigar. So I pulled it off again and even put rubber spacers beneath the front two bolts too, but is still just as noisy as before. I really thought this would have been the fix as it made a lot of sense, but maybe the sound is coming from within the unit itself. Any other suggestions anyone?

I noticed that as well and I found a way to avoid it.

I'm not sure if this is obvious or this is how its meant to be done but...The clicking or *Clocking* noise that you hear when you engage the Cruise Control is only when my foot is OFF the accelerator.
This means that if you engage the Cruise whilst your foot is maintaining 80kmph (for instance) there is no click, clock, clack or wtvr. Simply engage the CC whilst your already maintaining that speed.

Same this goes for when you want to disengage: Cruising at 80kmph, lightly hold the accelerator so that your foot is in control of the speed, then simply disengage whilst your foot is resting on the pedal.

This may only mask the noise of the click or completely avoid it, I'm not too sure yet. Give it a shot and let me know how you go.

    Cheers and happy cruising.

I think you may be right on that one. I'm lazy and just use the cruise instead of the accelerator most of the time if you know what I mean. I'll give it a go though, might be the slack being taken up and released in the cable, eh? Cheers.

I noticed the same mlid "clunk" on my VYII Calais' cruise control when engagin or disengaging, from when I first got the car.

Whilst getting a regular service (years ago) with Holden, asked them to investigate. They said there's nothing wrong.

I still occassionally notice it (only if the road noise & radio noise is down) and it's not got better or worse in 5 years.

Well I've placed rubber washers under the three bolts on the cruise module but no cigar. Ah I guess it's good to know that others do it, too. Mines done it for the four and a half years I've had the car. Just wasn't sure if it was the only "clicker."

It's backlash from the slack in the cable. Depressing the accelerator will remove some slack in the cable, therefore the click is quieter, or doesn't occur at all.
