Vy speedo !! What are my options

i have a vy series 2 exec - i want to get a new speedo to replace the daggy looking one in there atm, now as mine only has the one window in the center of the speedo im wondering if i go get say a vy berlina or calais cluster that has the 3 windows will it work or do i have to do anything to make it work ??

i apologise if this has been asked before or is a stupid question as i couldnt find it anywhere.

any help would be awesome

You will need to get it programmed to suit your cars climate / a/c and air bag setup + wheels n tyres - diff & tranny

ok to make it simple this is what i have and this is what i wanna install in it. its out of a vy v6 calais. is there any programing i need to have done cause surely its not as simple as a plug an play setup ?

berlina's and calais have different levels of BCM (body control modules, i think its level 2 and hsv level 3) so i got told they wouldnt work without paying heaps to swap them over.
...unless someone on here (sounds like the guy above) knows how to program the cluster properly so your level 1 BCM will know what to do lol.

not worth it IMO but if you really hate looking at the stock one and you can get it done cheap go for it

Its kinda a straight swap if its from the same series.

You will have to get somethings changed in the cluster like trans type, V8 or V6 number of air bags, climate or non and a few others. Any holden dealer can do/should be ablt to do this for you.

You cant change the KMS at holden unless the new one has under 100kms on it, if it does then there are only a few people that can change it for you .


But you can put it in and use it with out changing anything but your air bags might have a fault show up and the rmp might be out.

Clusters work fine no matter what BCM you have. The only thing that requires a different BCM is climate control.

you can plug in the calais dash. (providing it is the same series as your car 1 or 2) and it will work straight away. You will however get an airbag warning light, which you will have to have reset. (but as calais normally have more airbags then exec's you will have to have the dash calibrated for the amount of airbags you have in the exec - otherwise the dash is looking for airbags that aren't there and gives a warning which can't be humanly reset)

also, you have to set you fuel tank size, diff ratio & k's (legally- but as long as when you sell the car it is back up to where it was when you bought it or serviced it then it is not a real issue)

dr.bob at memcals can program the dash for you, so that when you get it back you simply plug it in and your done.

but upon removing the dash in your car, you must disconnect the battery and NOT reconnect it until you have installed the new dash. otherwise you will set off the airbag warning system again.
