gday. I was mindset on getting an SVZ ute. But me oldies have somehow talked me out of it. It makes sense to spend 6 or so thousand less I suppose.. Despite being shattered. I thought I may aswell look into the old ecotec again..
152kw.
What can I simply do to it for a bit of extra kick? (I was looking forward to the 190 High output of the VZ lol)
Like rockers, extractors and exhaust are my main 3 right now. But I heard of people doing the two hole mod on the vy... is it effective or will it just cause problems? Me mates old man reckons he can get me a pretty good price on engine stuff and help us out with a few things like porting the heads etc
But despite being a vs driver and having the standard eco.. is there anything VY compatible as such that my old little bugger couldn't handle or I suppose was unheard of?
Cheers
If you want higher performance ---- get a V8.
You can spend many thousands messing with a V6 - $5000 plus plus easily. You will still have an engine that will not come close to the V8 and you will never get the modification costs back on resale. You may also have insurance hassles with a modified engine.
There are plenty of VY V8 Utes for sale you can pick up for around 20,000 dollars ( SS model) with kms under 100,000 - most of them VY SS. It's a buyers' market for these cars. It's a good vehicle if you are willing to pay the higher running costs of the V8.
I'm sure there are plenty of people here who can tell you of their good buys on used VY V8 Utes.
If it is just VZ V6 power you want it makes little economic sense spending thousands trying to get it from VY V6 modifications. You would be better off outlaying more cash in the first place for the later model VZ.
