I have a ticking noise that comes and goes from under the glove box. The plastic plate there feels quite warm, not sure if thats normal.
Im no mechanic but i think its the A/C unit.....anyone know what it means/how much to fix?
THanks!
Cameron
it is the bearing / shaft of the blower unit on the AC. turn off the A/C and it will go away. when I say off actually turn the fan switch to off. a new motor is $270 from holden. most wreckers sell the same thing for $45.
It can also be a seed or leave in the blower unit. not hard to pull it out and have a look. just don't pull apart the blower unit. from experience they aren't easy to re-assemble.

Need your computer tuned, or dash calibrated??? Want your PS3 fixed, or wish to prevent the YLOD?
Awesome, thanks for the advice. A few screws and it should come out or does parts of the dash have to come off? I'll take it out 2morrow to check it out.
Any chance it takes a widely available bearing? I work with a building maintenance team, I know the mechanics who repair industrial pumps/fan bearings use a standard range of bearings for everything.
IT's quite a small bearing actually. from memory, you need to open the glove box, push out the 2 rubber retaining clips, then just yank the glove box of the plastic clip hinges.
then there is a black cover, on the bottom of the blower unit, I think that was 5 screws, or 5 bolts..... been awhile sorry.
then the blower motor has 1 wiring clip connector going to it, and 3 bolts holding it in position.
I know the VZ blower motor is completley different in appearance, I don't know if it would be a straight swap fit, but if it is the VZ blower unit is a lot better for air flow, quietness and design.

I got a mechanic at work to rip it out after i showed him where it was, quite easy to access.
The bearings are not replaceable but they were dry as, he pulled the blower motor to bits, cleaned and greased it all up, put it back together and its just like new now!
Probably took about 1.5 hours to do, took a while to work out how to pull it apart etc.
Thanks for your help again sp001in, saved me near $300!
Your welcome mate, glad to help.
