    Default VY Tranmission Service Questions:)

Hi Guys, I've serviced my old carVR Transmission, by oil change, and gasket/filter. My question is

    1. Is the VY tranmission service same? meaning. Remove tranmission sump, collect old oel, remove old filter (and that steel ring thing), add new steel ring thing, slap in new filter, wash out sump (cleaning magnet too), add new gasket, screw back on transmission sump (carefully not to break gasket), Add transmission oil from engine bay, (apprx 4Litrs and from memory is DX3(but ill look in manual)).
    2. Anything else you need to do to a VY Tranmission when taking it, out anything I should look for?
She's just hit 98,000k's, got her on 64,000, so im just gonna change it for my piece of mind.

    Cheers Fellas

yes it is the same i dont change the metal ring if it is stuck as it can cause metal ending up in the trans and you can tighten the bolts fairly tight about 30-40nm 40 being fairl high you dont need to clean the pan the metal on the magnet wont come off but do it if you have to

metal on the magnet wont come off? whats that black gunky shit that clings on to it when you havent serviced for a while? arent they micro metal shavings that the magnet is 'holding' at the base of the sump so it doesnt circulate?

i agree you should clean the magnet. yes shavings probably wont dislodge in the transmission but i still think that a clean magnet will pull new metal bits out of the fluid better then a dirty one.

yeah i just use a rag, slap dome degreaser in it, mix, wash, scrap both sides. so its brand spanking new, maybe if your also bored, clean around the upper half of the pan too. (so you can look and say sheeet my tranny is lookin gooooddd)
