hey there i currently have a 02 vy commodore sedan i have a problem with when currently goin over 75km i start to get a shake in the steering wheel now wat i have replaced is lower and upper control arm bushes and steering ball joints and also chassis bushes both sides have been replaced now the shaking insnt when i brake just when driving on freeway as i thought it might be warped rotors and i just put 19 inch wheels on the car with new tyres there kumho tyres and before i put the new tyres on the shaking was still there does anyone out there have and idea what would be causing this problem at all
I assume you've done a wheel alignment since having the suspension parts installed? Also seeing as you have new wheels and tires its probably not a wheel balancing issue.
Could be something to do with the steering rack, maybe movement in the rack ends
Without testing and inspecting the car people here can only guess what the specific problem is.
You need to get the car inspected and tested by a competent steering and suspension specialist so the problem is properly identified. There can be any number of issues that is causing the problem.
Sounds like you have eliminated wheel balance. Jack up the car and spin the wheels and see if they are spinning true there may be something wrong with one or both of the hubs maybe?
I had very similar problem, had 6 wheel balances, 2 alignments, replaced the entire suspension, lower and upper control arms. still there
took the tyre's back and got another set of the same brand and type. still there.
pulled those wheels off and put on a mates 18's. gone.
took the tyres back to the shop I got them from - for the 7th time )as they were doing the balances and told them I wanted a different brand.
they changed me from Triangles, to MAXXIS. problem solved.
they tyres were simply out of round from the factory mould.
