That is not unusual for a lot of stop and start city driving. You can easily run a higher consumption than that in congested city driving.

To begin with I would add a half a bottle of Nulon injection cleaner with a fresh tank of petrol and use premium (- not E10). Do a 100 gentle country kms up to 100 kph and see what the computer reads for the consumption. It should be under 9.

I would check your tyre pressures and keep them at about 36 psi front and 34 psi rear.

Change your engine air cleaner element. These are cheap(about $12) and easy to replace. It should be done every year if you are running your car nearly every day. If clogged your fuel consumption will suffer.

As a precaution, if you are still concerned , I would also check for any signs of fuel leaks from the entire fuel system.

What sort of K's has your ute got boss? Don't bother with the Premium - unless you've gotten your ute tuned to take advantage of the higher octane in premium it's just a wank factor.

this is the 3rd thread on this tonight !~
    three things
    1. australia has just changed too different fuel due to seasons
2.a good tune fixes most of these complaints air filter fuel filter plugs and tyre preasures and wind resistance
3.o2 sensors have a life span your car heated o2 sensors are 150 to 180,000km's

might be worth pumping the tyres and getting a good service
    hope this helps!~

What I'd suggest is new plugs ($3 NGK ones do the job just perfect - I think they're a BPR6EFS-15) new ignition leads, and a new filter. Oxygen sensors wouldn't go astray either - I had my ute tuned a month ago and found that mine are on the way out at 75,000km's.

wow thats unlikely but possible i guess
in these cars you should have platinum plugs for lifetime (120,000km's) but nyways if it fixed it i have no argument

You can get it all at holden. I paid $60 for leads, $18 for a plug, $150 for each oxygen sensor (you'll need two),and i think it's about $11 for a filter. I just bought all this stuff about a month ago for my friend's VX (180,000kms) - turned it into a decent car too
