    Default [LS1} VY Engine mounts.

Hey guys, still got an insideous intermitent knocking noise coming the front end of my car.
I've replaced the link pin bushes, and the strut seems fine. No leaks and controls rebound just fine.

I'm thinking it could possibly be an enine mount as my car has recently had the engine cradle replaced.
Is there any easy way to check this with the LS1?
It's slightly difficult to check it visually.

With a friend to watch, lift the bonnet, put the car in drive or gear and while foot on the brake apply some revs and drive to the engine and see if it moves and by how much.
If the passenger side lifts a lot or the drivers side pulls down a lot into the engine bay then there is your problem, broken engine mount/s.
Nothing to do with driving around with bonnet open.

+1. I had a munted engine mount. I opened my bonnet, sat in my car, foot on brake and applied some revs as said above.
I could see the engine moving from where i was sitting, looking through the windscreen. (Theres a gap when you open your bonnet, you can see the top of the engine.. mines also a VY)

Yeah i know, I was being a smart arse :P.
Don't think its an engine mount. Fairly sure I've got a bent strut. Should have been replaced when they fixed it after the accident. Bugger it, new suspension all round.

    Yeah no...
Coil overs are for absolute and utter wankers, in a street application .

There's a mob on ebay doing Monroe GT and king super low kits for $660 delivered. Monroe are OEM suppliers so can't be too bad. Will do me for the time being anyway.
