Default VT ecotec 3800 into VY to replace blown engine

So my question is, I have a VT with a perfectly good cond ecotec engine can I take this out and put it into my friends VY in which engine head gasket is blown? Besides taking engine out and putting in, what else needs changing they are both auto and same transmission. Will there be any computer issues?

the VT still had the 147 kw engine, the vx-vy has the 152 one of the major changes is the EGR. Best find one out of a vx or vy.

why not just rebuild the VY's if its only a head gasket?

Fix the headgasket. Cheaper and when its done you know it wont happen again. With a used motor u have no idea what you are buying realistically
