I asked a mechanic how much to service my auto trans and he recommended a flush and said it would need at least 8 litres of trans fluid. Unless the fluid is really dirty or burnt your probably OK with a simple service which needs around 4 litres. How long since it was serviced and what is the fluid in it like?

First you need to state whether it is auto or manual.
Second, if its an auto without pulling the converter out, you might as well just do a simple service as mentioned.

thanks for replying guys. the problem is that i was bout to do a transmition flush but now i changed my mind coz am confused am gonna only drop the pan and refill with changing gasket and filter. the reason is i asked a lot of people some of them say DO NOT FLUSH IT IT WILL SLIP just only drop the pan and refill that's it. am talking bout an auto transimition. the color of my car trans fluid is pink but i don't know why i see a lot of air bubbles on the dipstick to a stage that i cant see if it sits on the hot mark. other thing is when i remove the dipstick there is an awful smell coming from the fluid. any advice????
