Default Lowering my vy series ii

I really dont have time to search the forum, i just want to know straight up
im looking to get king SL's all round
    camper kit and new shocks.

i've been told i should get new shocks, is there certain shocks for lowered cars?
because where i was going to get it done said i can leave my old ones in if there in good condition, but have been told by friends leaving them in causes a worse ride and the springs can come out and damage the tyres etc

    and are SL's legal?

    thanks.

yeah SL's should be fine.... havent lowered my car but im pretty sure SSL's are still legal as long as you dont put too much weight in it... its only the 100mm ride height that you need to worry about not the definition of the spring
my mate put SL's in and didnt change the shocks and said it was alright but he changed them when he put SSL's in... if you have the money and arent going to lowering your car any lower anytime soon i would get the new shocks

i recently lowered my vy but used peders comfort ride which is the same as the kings SL's personally i suggest putting in shocks when u put the springs in because i have been in my mates cars who only put springs in and then got back in to mine which has springs and shocks put in and there such a big difference and yes SL are legal

sl are a breeze. The reason you need new shocks is that all shocks are made to travel certain distances (im talking suspension travel) because now you have a lower ride height, the shocks arnt made to soften short, sharp hits. Short shocks are made to do short sharp travels

As for springs falling out, the short shocks reduce the amount of drop when the wheels are off the ground. Legally, your springs must be contained and unable to be moved by hand with no weight on the car. Sl wont fall out with OEM shocks, ssl may fall out with OEM shocks

Camber kit isnt needed with SL. Its alittle overkill. They are only desperatly needed if your running SSL on rims over 19 inches, but better safe n sorry gettint them no matter what rim size you have. Youll find they dont help out as much as you think they will

HINT! you buy performance tyres (i.e. directional tread), you limit yourself as to how you can rotate them. Get regular tyres and youll be able to rotate all 5 and get a hell of alot more out of your tyres.

As for brands?? Match kings with monroe shocks, or go all out with pedders.
KINGS n MONROE: better handling, harsh ride
PEDDERS: handling noth9ing special, better ride
