i just bought a new car and got it serviced and wheel allignment. but they couldnt do the wheel allignment because my car is so low. the guy i got it from didnt say much about the king springs but its on 20's that are 245/30 and its still abit tucked on the front and back so i assumed SSL. anyway yeh the mechanic said i need to buy and install camber kits in order for them to do the wheel allignment properly. it doesnt bother me too much that my car pulls abit left the guy said its not critical that i get them in soon but wanted to know how much the camber kits cost for the vy series?
so just wanted to know if any1 knew the price on them and also if my car is indeed lowered on SSL's
Your mechanice is full of shit, im running shit loads of camber and my tyre shop has now problem with my wheel alignment.
They can do a wheel alignment but because your car is so low its not going to "fix" your camber problem completely. Probably not much point in getting a wheel alignment until you get a camber kit because they will have to do another wheel alignment after that is installed. I have SSL's in my VY and a K-MAC 4 point camber kit installed and have no problems with tyres. I think K-MAC are one of the best camber kits but also one of the more expensive. You can get a Super Pro kit for a lot cheaper. Cheers
+1. go get yourself a K-MAC 4 point/Bush camber kit. then get them installed then you will need to do a wheel aligment. it cost me $680 for kit and my machanic to install it (but i live in the bush, so it will be alot cheaper for you guys on the coast).
your wheels wont be dead flat again if you run SSSL springs, but it will bring them in enough to help your tire wear.
want to see more then a typical commodore fitted with an exhuast, then check my thread out... link broken cuase i dont own a tuff car, i just made it up...
Putting a camber kit in a SSL rear end is like pissing on a house fire. Even with the kit you won't even get close to 0º camber on SSL. Most on SL can't even get 0º.
Generally you want close to 0º camber for the street to maximize straight line braking performance. You can't do that running SSL. Whether you're ok with ridiculous tyre wear and compromised braking is your choice.
