    Default Bent Accelorator bracket.

    G'day guys.
I found the other day that my throttle body wasn't opening properly. So in a quest to find out why it wasn't I found something I never really expected.

    A bent pedal bracket.

So here is some pictures, because they're always good.

    Seriously mcfugged.

    Not really to be honest!

Throttle cablle is stretched too it seems!
The brackets are too soft, even the new one bends a little when I push the pedal down. Fairly dodgy.

Sounds about right for Holden. Wonder how many other people have this problem and don't know.

That's why I put this up, I only found it after playing with my scantool. Getting 80% throttle with it pushed to the floor. Getting 92% now with the new bracket, but the cable has stretched as well.

I'll add also, that my throttle doesn't open untill after about 1/2 the pedal movement. Stretched good.

i wonder if any fab workshops would make you a new one if you showed it too them... they might be able to make one slighty stronger... would be intersting to know if anyone has done this already as well??

It would be easy to reinforce that bracket, I don't see the need though. Just as easy to NOT fight the TC.

I managed to bend the bracket on my Ecotec once while working on it (buggered if I know how), I only found out after I turned my car on to test it and it revved the tits off itself. I'm sure you would know it only takes a little throttle to rev in idle, well the cable was just tight enough to just open the butterfly.

I have no idea how I bent the bracket, especially since I had to lay into it with a mallet to get it back into shape, it wasn't pliable at all.

LOL, I rarely ever drink, and never at home. Sure felt like a few JDs after that though. Scared the damn pants out of me when it revved up in the garage, probably hit about 4500rpm before I could get the key off.

Not sure what the hell you guys are doing to bend those lol. Mine is fully open before the end of the pedal travel, and revs up to 2500rpm at idle with about 2-3mm of pedal.

Nothing fancy I can assure you. I've never managed this on any other car.
