So, after my Maloo finally leaves the shop, my mechanic throws a "we've got this here for exactly your car" points to a OTR, and spins me a "it'll add 30+ rwhp" with a tune....
Really? OTR and Mafless tune will do that? I'm a bit dubious about it, because reading other forums, people have seen a small gain, not a huge one like that.
Or maybe I'm being a bit over cautious because they mentioned that the XXIO 20 inch rims were "Expensive!". Since learning the previous owner managed to bingle one on the inside so now I have to replace it, I've researched and found that unless I want a bunch of golf clubs, I'm not replacing the XXIO with any of it's stock.![]()
A tune alone will release more then 30 rwkw on the 6L. Add an OTR with mafless tune and that figure will go up a little more. You have one of the easiest holdens to improve power on so yeah, your mechanic is on the right track.

As above yes there is good gains to be had like the figure quoted, but this will come more from the mafless tune than the otr. Together though both will work well a see some nice improvements

You'll get over and above a 30rwhp increase by doing those two mods.

Hahaha, at the slight detour the post took there. Anyway, thanks for the heads up, got it booked for the new year fitting and tune. Hopefully can find a set of rims I like too and swap out that XXIO rubbish.
Good for Rims that are light weight as big heavy rims will drag lots of power out the engine.
