VY Berlina exhaust/engine modification advice

Hi all,
My mate is looking at getting a VY Berlina/Calais, and wants a decent, meaty-sounding exhaust system without being too loud.
Ive got a few ideas, and pretty accurate ones too hopefully, but some more thoughts on the matter would be good.

Upgraded cam will always give a beefy tone. Get a 2.5" single exhaust with both muffler and resonator. This will keep it from being too loud while still giving it a nicer tone than stock.

There has been about 10 threads on this EXACT thing this week.

I don't mind helping people out with obscure things, but exhaust threads make up at least 50% of the new threads on JC. The topic has been covered that many times its not funny.
Got to the advanced search button and put in "Exhaust system" and see the 30,000 threads that have already been started.
