Oh oh. I can't get into my car.
I have been recovering from an operation for about a month. I tried to open my car yesterday and I can't, battery is completely drained. I think the stereo didn't switch off properly because the radio antenna is up.
I can't unlock it with the key remote or with the key!
So I can't even open the bonnet to jump-start the battery.
Any ideas how I can get in without causing damage? I also bet it's double locked.
It's a wk caprice with only a lock on the driversside door.

Turn key to the right with a fair bit of force, it will unlock.
Silver Certified.
I had this problem a short while ago. Turning the key hard clockwise didn't work for me (this does for most though). In the end I jacked the car up and hooked up a trickle charger to the starter motor. This put enough juice through the electrics to hit the button and pop the lock. (I turned the power on the charger then straight away popped the lock)
I think the problem is the barrel is never used due to remote central locking so it must seize up after a while....

Ok. I dared to turn the key clockwise enough to make me think it will snap and hey presto. Open
I'll call the RAC to start the car Wednesday if my doctor says I'm ok to drive.

This reminds me: we are supposed to lubricate the door lock with graphite powder from time to time. I never have, because I never use it. Lesson learned though, I might do it now in case this happens to me.
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
