G'day all,
Have decided with the usefulness, added security features and the improvement in appearance that it's time to buy a hardlid for my ute.
I'm keen to learn something new and would like to DIY the installation of a hard lid.
Anyways, a few Q's if I may,
: I suspect it would it be possible to pick one up in a VY ute and be able to fit it diagonally across, standing up on & along lids longest side in the tray carefully tied off using current tie down areas along the top inside of tray.
Has anyone attempted or done this or are there any better ideas for transporting a lid without using a trailer or having to use a larger vehicle?
: Are the hinges/mounting brackets that are to be fixed behind the windscreen for the hardlid pop riveted into place?
: If I had a load that required having the lid up on its hinges above horizontal without being locked down as per usual is there any offence committed according to the law?
If I was to pick up a 2nd hand lid my guess is that extra parts will be needed, hinges, locking mechanisms, sealing purposes and anything else I may have missed.
Would like to hear from anyone who may have done a DIY installation with a VU/VY/VZ hardlid.
For now I will continue reading up on the search results, with any answers to the above, tips and tricks or further info will be much appreciated.
Cheers,
SS Manual.
