Hey guys. Got a standard vy exec but the dash cluster is boring. Am I able to change it to an ss cluster or any other models? Mines a series 1 do I have to stick to series 1 clusters if I can get an ss? What's involved in changing them over? Any help would be appreciated as I don't know much about this. Cheers.
I believe that you can simply change over to a higher class one but pretty sure you have to stay to the same series as if you swap, the fuel gauge will read backwards or something like that.
A Commodore is a passion. Anything else is just a car
You can use any series cluster, im running a series 2 VY Berlina cluster in my Series 1 Lumina... all it needs is Tech -2 and done

yes they do have to be the same series because i have a series 2 cluster in my series 1 and the fuel guage reads backwards. Can anyone confirm that simply changing the fuel guage sender to a series 2 will rectify this problem?

hey everyone, ive always liked the noise of a blow off valve hissing at the change of gear, n was wondering if there is a way to hook one up on a alloytec 3.6L without a turbo?
When I was looking at HSV clusters for my VYSS I was told that since my car is a series 2 I had to get a series 2 cluster the series 1 cluster would not work.
The VY and VYII have different fuel sender units and the software that controls the fuel data and the sender units is different(i think uts made by 2 different companies). If you fit the wrong series cluster, then the fuel guage will work back to front which makes the the DTE (distance to empty) on the trip computer unusable. You can fix this by changing the fuel sender unit to the compatiable type I've heard it costs a few hundre bucks to do though.
Go to Holden get them to use there tech 2 to rectify it for you should cost like $50 alot cheaper

A tech 2 is unable to change the odometer unless it has less then 100km on it (thats 100km, not 100,000km). Some people have worked out how to change it with more then 100km though, Phreddy from ASR-Audio can do this.
The tech 2 is able to set up everything else on the cluster - V6/V8, Auto/Manual, number of airbags, diff ratio.
Yep, series 2 sender will fix the problem.
Berlina S2 and Calais S1 are identical in apparance. Berlina S1 has a slightly different font then Berlina S2. Calais S2 has a different font again, black background and monaro style needles.
If your dial background is grey, then you have a Calais S1 cluster. If it's black you have some kind of hybrid job made of parts from all different clustersProbably VY2 Calais or VZ Background put into a VY1 cluster.

so basicsally what your all saying is that if i have a vy series 2 i go get any model dash, even level 3 dash? aslong as its series 2?
Thanks for the help. What's it like to remove and put the new one in? Just looking at a few on ebay, might also check out some wreckers.
So the kilometers can't be changed even with a tech 2 tool? I have a mate who owns a panel shop who knows how to do it. The cluster I'm looking at has 230k on it compared to 150 on my car. Just wanna know everything before i commit to the buy. cheers.
