I have just had my recalled sunroof replaced by our local Holden dealer (after a three week wait on parts) only to find the replacement is not fitting as flush as the original. The front corners were up on one side & down on the other & the whole rear was sitting about 6mm below the roof line. I took it back immediately to be told that all the replacements are all like this. After voicing my disgust they took it back into the workshop where they adjusted it to sit almost correctly which they told me they were advised not to do by the supplier. It is still not 100% but they are going to take it up with the supplier on my behalf. Has anyone else had a similar problem or are they just blowing smoke up my arse?
Hi, I have just had my replacement sunroof fitted on Monday by Schofields of Auckland, the rear of my sunroof sits flush with the roofline while the front is raised slightly by about 3mm with the new seals. I have noticed no adverse effects yet like leaks and such but will keep an eye on it.
If you can't convince them, confuse them.
You are lucky. Mine whistled like hell until I took it back. don't settle for half a job though. Keep taking it back until you are satisfied it is as good as it was before it went in. I know I will.
YES- I had mine done a couple of weeks ago , when I picked it up I noticed it was sitting down about 6mm along the rear edge, I thought , maybe it wasnt quite closed enough so took it home , opened & closed it several times to find it still not sitting flush along the rear edge , rang dealer next morning -they told me to bring it straight in , left it next day , picked it up & it was perfect , dealer said they had to re rig the mechanism , something they were told by webasto they shouldnt have to do, anyway mine is great now, so dont give up until you have satisfaction,
I also had a VZ Monaro which I took a week later to same dealer , picked it up after the job done & it was perfect job. Maybe the dealer was finally learning how to do it?? Also they must have to reset the BCM when they do the job as neither of mine will now stay open when you turn ign off & open the drivers door , they shut every time which is a pain in the a..se .
Yeah your right with that. they must disconnect the battery which resets the bcm to factory defaults which includes auto close on ignition off. If you want it to stay open on ignition off just touch the close arrow quickly as soon as you turn it off.
I had mine done by Webasto (Hollandia distrbutor in Australia) because I didn't trust some Holden apprentice mechanic fitting my recall glass.
The Fitter at Webasto said the new glass should sit flush at the front but slightly high at the rear because as you use your roof the seal will wear a miniscule amount and eventually will sit flush.
This could take a few weeks to a few months depending on how often you open/close your roof.
He said if it is fitted flush from the start it will eventually sit a little low in the frame.
BTW he told me this before he fitted the new glass becasue he wanted to know if I was happy with this outcome or he would make it flush from the start.

The sunroof should be adjusted correctly the first time it is fitted. The battery isnt disconnected as the ignition is left on so it wont auto close in the middle of removal/fitment. the BCM isnt touched either.
As for auto close not working trying completely opening the roof in both the angle and slide modes then completely closing it so it relearns the limits.
