    Default VY fuel filter... HELP!!!

    Hey guys,

    I read up on a few 'how to' guides on changing the fuel filer on the vy didn't have any problem getting the filter off, however when I replaced it with the new one the 'in' end is leaking a significant amount of fuel! I tried multiple things to get it on right but it goes as far as a 'click' then no further...any thoughts???

    I made sure there was no damage to the links and made sure that it's the same ryco filter with the same product code.

    Please help!

    I think there is a small Rubber o-ring inside the Quick Release Connector that stops leaking. This could be damaged or misaligned. Not sure if it can be replaced. But worth checking.

    took me a while to get mine off but if you squeeze the clips hard enough it comes off bud. just do it on an average day rather than a 40 degree one.

    @ OP try some thread tape (htpe tape) around the outside of the filter, if that doesnt work you might be up for a new fitler or hose clip

    Well I tried for about 1 hour on my VZ and gave up! The filter 'out' end is very different to the VY... On the VY I just followed the instructions on some of the other posts... Push in and press the button that release the clip and pull back. Note: i found that twisting the filter a few times dropped some dirt that would have possibly made the job much harder...

    Lucky the side thats leaking is the tank to filter hose, should be much cheaper to replace than the one running to the bay.

    Any other thoughts? I'm spewing coz it's such a simple task that shouldn't require much effort at all!!! The vl was so easy, why did I ever get rid of it :@

    Make sure you have de-pressured the Fuel system, Makes it much easier i found. Also what i have known a lot of people cut the stupid quick release connector then just use clamps lol

    Yep my suggestion as well.. Pull out the fuel pump fuse run engine till it stalls and it all comes apart allot easier! I love the quick release as then the hardest job is un-clipping the fuel filter (which its not)

    if you wanna dodgy it up you can cut it and use hose clamps like the vs' do (that being said just keep fiddlin with it, it'll come off eventually)

    This is for the VY owners. With one hand firmly on the filter and the other hand on the clip, push with a little force the connectors towards the filter. You don't need any fancy tools and be careful with the little tabs in the clips as you may damage them. Then all you need to do is slowly wiggle each end free. That should get the old one out. Just remember to look at the flow mark on the old filter before you remove it.

    its a simple job.. maybe you didnt fully clip the clips back in properly

    had the problem of destroying the T piece clip while removing filter. created new setup with brass 3/8 T and some fuel hose and clamps. main pain in the ass was when you cut the plastic clip off found that inside the rubber hose is a reasonably hard plastic fuel line so had to heat up with heat gun and cut the ends off old filter to use as joints, bit dodgy but it worked
