2003 VY Commodore S pac series 2 rough idle on cold start

Hi, I hope someone would be able to help me out here.

I recently bought an 2003 VY s pac and ive noticed every time i start the car the cars idle jumps up and down and idles so rough that the car nearly cuts off. After about 3 minutes of warming up the car runs very smoothly.

I asked a mechanic about this problem and he claimed that most turbo and supercharged cars have a rough idle when the engine is cold. Is this true?

Any information would be great, im not sure if its normal for the idle to be this rough.
