VY CALAIS tail light

every tail light i've looked at for my calais (apart from calais tail lights) say that they dont fit vy calais, berlina, hsv ets.

do any other tail light fit the calais??? vz maybe?

ss lights should be the same size

vy berlina and calais r the same and vz calais will fit as well but executive tailights wont fit because they r slightly smaller in height

VZ Calais lights are the go. SS lights won't fit and imo wouldn't be an upgrade either

shit yer! they look way better then the VY calais lights! and all it is is tinted basically!

VY Berlina/Calais/HSV = VYII Berlina/HSV = VZ Executive/Acclaim/HSV (what you already have)
VYII Calais = VZ Berlina - chrome finish housing
VZ Calais - black finish housing

VY Exec/Acclaim, VY and VZ S, SV6, SS, SSZ, and all aftermarket taillights are about an inch and a half shorter and won't fit in a Calais.
VZ Calais is the one everyone opts for, but are expensive and sometimes hard to find. Only other thing to consider is the VZ Berlina and Calais lights have no red reflector. Your stock VY Calais lights do, but removing them would deem your car unroadworthy. Not something they're pedantic about AFAIK, but food for thought

The series 2 VY calais and VZ 1&2 Berlina and Calais have reflectors fitted in the rear bar.
The series 1 vy calais and VZ exec and acclaim don't.
All these cars use the same size tail light which is about 25mm taller than the tail light used in the VY exec, Acclaim and VY/VZ S & SS.

Yes, the Calais has a different rear bumper width , so you can only use "Calais" type tail lamp assemblies, however if you put VZ ones on a VY you will have to buy the rear garnish & reflectors that run along under the bumper width , because VY taillights had reflectors built into them but VZ ones didnt , so if an alert copper/transport dept officer spotted your car at night with no reflectors showing you will get pinged. The rear "Garnish with reflectors costs about $90 trade all up new from Holden dealer , but to fit onto a VY bumper you will have to cut off the plastic lugs that protrude out the back of the garnish , then Silastic it in place on the VY bumper , tape it in place overnight till the silastic goes off & hey presto , totally differnt look for yoyur VY , & the VZ lights are amazingly better ,sharper & brighter, almost like LED lights.....

Upgraded my factory VYII Calais tail lights to factory VZ Calais
they just slotted right in, no adjustments needed!
