Hi guys I was wondering if it is possible to install climate control into a series 2 vy from an ss or something and if so what does it take? Cheers
Mate,
This is one of the more commonly desired upgrades - but few attempt it. My hat goes off to those who do it - most of them reckon they wouldn't do it again.
You need to remove most of the dash - this involves degassing/disconnecting/reconnecting/regassing the a/c refgrigerant.
Swap heater box, swap cable controlled actuators for vacuum controlled actuators - if that part doesn't phase you, you'd be almost half way there.
You need to upgrade the bcm and install matching harness (It may be possible to patch existing harness in to upgraded bcm?)
as well as the vacuum actuators there is the solenoid controller and temp/light sensors.
When it comes to fitting the electronic control panel you will need different fascia pieces (control panels are not straight swap) - of course you could take the opportunity to fit the flip out cup holders...
It's a huge job that will cost you $$ even if you do all the work yourself.
Climate control does rock though
but imho the cup holders are fail ...

Thanks man. Doesn't look like I'll be doing it anytime soon. I suppose u would be looking around 3 or 4 grand to be done by an aircon joint?
I seem to recall someone saying they were quoted $2k labour only to do a VX but that was years ago. Most places quote a days labour just to remove the dash.
