i have a 2003 VY commodore Acclaim v6 auto wagon
recently i've started hearing a strange whirring sound when the car is driving and at more than 2000rpm.
It doesn't happen in first gear
If i Rev it while it's in neutral it doesn't make the sound either.
The transmission fluid is full and fine
Any ideas of what it may be?
Perhaps its got something to do with your stereo, do you have an aftermarket one installed because if its not installed properly it can make a funny noise
say you're on the highway doing 100km/h and your car is doing less than 2000rpm, is it there or not? Just asking as my work ute was doing the same thing and it turned out to be the diff.
I have issues with my fuel pump on previous cars that have made whinning noises when driving, however the whining noise is still there when the car is idling. The stereo makes a humming noise through the speakers if the earth wire is not securely earthed. you said the noise was coming from your engine...... hmmm might want to get the water pump checked, because i know that they whine aswell when the seals have worn, are you leaking any water?
hope this helped
I just replaced a belt idler pulley that was making those noises! varied with engine revs too .....
i have the same thing it kinda sounds like a shitty super charger wine as i drive from 1st to 4th, i thought i may have been the powersteering pump, but the noise deff coming from the front end of the car its annoying
Check your front wheel bearings , I just had to replace my Pax side one had a very grindy sort of noise , they are a sealed unit hub, make sure you buy at least a Repco one not ebay chinese rubbish.
