Hey guys
was outside on the car yesterday fiddling around and checking all the bits when i went to check my engine coolant and i havent done it for ages. So i pulled the stick out and there was all this brown gunky stuff on it so i wiped it on and dipped it again but nothing showed up on the stick.
Should i be worried about this?
My car doesnt overheat although when i checked it my engine did seem quite hot even though i had just drove literally 100 metres down the road. I know the gunky stuff is just the tablets they throw in there during a service. The holden guy on the phone told me to undo the bolt under the wheel arch and pull the container out, clean it then throw it back in and put more coolant in. Seems quite fiddly tho so not sure what to do.
Any suggestions?

Has it been serviced with Holden genuine coolant and pellets? When I flushed mine out I removed the overflow bottle and it had a lot of brown stuff on the dip stick, also the heater core and engien block the coolant was a brownish colour whereas the rest was green. I think this might have something to do wit the Holden pellets if that's not it then make sure it's not an oil leak into the cooling system however that would usually show up as oil in the radiator.
The tank is pretty easy to remove couple Of screws and it will drop down give it a flush out replace and top up Coolant via the radiator .
Don't do what i stupidly did and pour it into the overflow tank haha it will fill up and overflow and you will have coolant all through your shed ... Oops
It was serviced with a ford dealership a few months back since i bought my car from there.
Yeah im thinking about just pulling out the tank and washing it but is do i need to get the same type of coolant that i used to have coz i know you cant mix different brands
