Smile VS Super6 OTR CAI onto a VY???

So yea I'm just wondering if it will be at all possible to fit one of these onto a VY...

The main things that need to be taken into account would be clearance with the bonnet and connecting it to the air box as it is different to the one on the VS.

I'm wondering if anyone has ever successfully done or tried this cause they are very reasonably priced from the dealer in comparison to other CAI's. So I'd rather go down this path if possible because I don't want to spend too much money on something that is really going to make sweet FA of a difference.

Here's a pic of the bad boy...

    Cheers guys!

I have a VY - and one of those OTR intakes from my VS days - it's sitting in the shed gathering dust...

I may be able to investigate for you...

It would be great if you could mate cheers fletch!

I'm very curious to see if it can cause personally I think it should be able to with a little modification, I really can't see why it can't so fingers crossed ha!

So here it is. It fits, bonnet closes. Clearances on all moving parts look fine to me. Need to modify the bottom of the airbox - as the hole is a bad fit. Improvements to be made would include moulding (heatgun?) the bottom of the OTR air intake to better mate the area it sits. You would need to drill holes in the plastic piece that sits on top of the radiator to bolt the intake to. Double sided tape would be clumsy if you need to remove it for maintenance - velcro stuck to each side would avoid drilling - but nah...

FWIW - not worth the money (and it would cost me nothing to proceed). I can't see it improving on the factory snorkel - and that's not even considering the aesthetics. With a 10psi pulley, I feel no need to play with this area of the motor - and if I did, this is not the way I'd go about it.

However, interesting question - I hope I have provided an answer

Now that I have pulled it out of the shed, imma try my luck on ebay.

Looking at the skinny intake on that VS part I'd say the stock VY one would do exactly the same thing if not better.

Agreed - even if you softened it up and moulded it more open - say 3 times as wide, the stock would still be better.

Fletch mate your a legend. Thanks heaps for investigating that for us as I was very curious to see why it hadn't been attempted before.

And yea your right, probs not even worth going down this path considering there will need to be a fair bit of modding...

But yea really appreciate your help mate this has been bugging me for ages haha!

Yeh - looking at them side by side - it's a wonder VS folk aren't trying to fit VY intakes ;-)
