When it goes off can you stop it by manipulating the horn pad on the steering wheel?

Does the horn work normally apart from your issue?

sounds like the harness under the airbag is shorting out,
take it to a workshop and get airbag taken off and the horn "plate" and "harness" checked good luck~!

yes had this on a VY where I worked - they changed the airbag horn pad and it stoped. It went off most of the time in the afternoon when the sun heated up the car - it never happened while parked in the shed.

If I recall correctly, there was an issue with a metalised barcode strip fixed to the back of the airbag which could become partially detached in warm weather and cause a short, activating the horns. The cure was to remove the airbag and pull the tag off completely, then refit the airbag. I'm sure there are threads on here somewhere about this problem. It's certainly worth looking at this as a first option before paying for a new airbag or wiring.

    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION
Some customers may complain that their vehicle’s
horn intermittently sounds on its own.
Investigation of these cases reveals that a metallic
backed barcode label fixed to the steering wheel
directly below the horn bar contact (which is located
on the underside of the airbag) may curl up and earth
the horn bar contact which causes the horn to sound.
This condition may be more common with increased
    cabin temperatures.
    PRODUCTION RECTIFICATION
Steering wheels with relocated barcode labels were
    fitted to vehicles from:
    ISOVIN: Build Date:
    6G1YK43A23L968463 29/1/03
    SERVICE RECTIFICATION
    1. Remove the air bag as per the procedure in PV
SIP VY / Electrical System / Section 12M
Occupant Protection System / 2. Service
Operations / 2.3 Steering Wheel Inflatable
    Restraint Module Assembly.
    2. Inspect the steering wheel hub for a label as
    shown in Figure 1.
    3. Remove the label highlighted in Figure 1.
    4. Reinstall the air bag as per the SIP procedure.
    Silver Certified.

And that, friends, is the technical way of saying exactly the same thing I did, but taking about twice as long to say it.

It amuses me that you would even begin to consider that your intelligence is higher than mine.

Those that arent intellectually challenged like yourself would realise that I simply cut and pasted an official Holden techline to reinforce what you posted.

But hey dont let me stop you from trying to boost your own ego as youre clearly feeling a little insecure if you need to use the lowest form of wit also known as sarcasm.

Mate, I think you have totally misinterpreted my post. If it offended you or annoyed you, it wasn't meant to. And it was meant to be humorous, not clever or sarcastic. There are quite enough sarcastic people on this forum - I don't need to join them.

And I'm way too old to bother trying to boost my ego.

Yes I did misinterpret it and therefore retract my offensive reply and apologise.

All cool mate. Looking over my post, it can be seen to come across as smarty-farty. I was really referring to the long winded way the technical report addressed the problem, certainly not shooting at you.

I wonder if our advice fixed his problem.

Well, I'm glad you two sorted out your little "issue"!!! LOL I was just glad to see that the problem was rectified from 29/1/03. So mine being a 10/03 model shouldn't have this problem.

Good info guys. I had the same problem and fixed it with info from here. Took 15 mins and cost nothing. If I had taken it to my dealer I'm sure they would have charged heaps.
