Hey there Ive notice that my steering rack is leaking on both rack end's And where there looks to be a bolt to drain it? Ive also seen this happen on a few others is it common And what would be the best options to get it fixed Would i be better off just buying a new one?
You would be better off getting a reconditioned rack. The leakage indicates that the seals are shot at each end of the rack and repair costs would probably exceed the cost of a recon. Commodore racks leak after a fair bit of service - how far has your car travelled?
The vy's I've had have had to get them both changed. It's like $300 fitted(can't remember exactly) with recon'd one. No way I'd fit it myself, sucks hardcore.
As said go a recon rack and a wheel alignment afterwards.
Silver Certified.
Cars done just about 180 Thousand Its probably what's making the clunking sounds at times. Will get it replaced
Thanks.
