Ive got a v6 vy series 2.. which means theres no wiring for the fog lights, was just wondering to do it an easy way can i just get some and hook them up to my parkers?
you can if you use a relay but it will be illegal unless you wire it through a switch aswell
yeah, im not sure, it seems like an annoying job... im thinking bout just heading down to autobarn and getting them to install it all, just not sure how much it would cost?
Don't go hooking them up to your parkers as it's illegal to have them on when there isn't any fog.
There's far too many douches on the road doing it as it is.
your ute being a storm should have the wiring there?
should just need to pull the dash facia off and untape the connector on the loom, plug in the switch and put a relay in the fog light spot in the fuse box
on a series 2? are you sure? how do i check?
why does being a series 2 mean it doesnt have the wiring there?
from what i remember, all models from VT onwards have the wiring there from factory (except executive)
yeah, but ive been told that they didnt put the wiring there for the series 2 vy's but is for the series 1's, which is quite rediculas
have a look and see.. behind the dash and also at the front of the car..
Series 2 wont have the wires.
All you need is a relay, some wire and a switch. Also some black tape and crimp lugs.
Actually if you get a switch with a high enough amp rating you dont even need a relay...
Crimp lugs are for noobs - just saying...
A relay can ensure more 'juice' gets to the lights as well as minimising the risk of switch/wiring meltdown.
Also, be sure to have a fuse inline.
You can get foglight wiring kits at supercheap etc.

just grab a new switch from holden and a relay... i wired them up myself and it only took about 3 hours of actual work... spent the other 5 going to burson's cause i broke connectors and cause i wired them up wrong the first time
its actually not that hard once you get your head around what you have to do
I did this a year or so ago, wanted it to look as factory as possible. Bought some SS foggies (clones) off ebay for $120, factory fog light switch $60 and some genuine foglight connector $16. Got a relay/inline fuse all built into one unit. Few meters of wire and followed this guide.
Cobra30.com - VY Commodore/Crewman Fog Lights Installation
All works as per factory except I dont get the green light in the cluster to say there on. But turnt on and off with the other lights and work correctly off the switch.
Think its definatly worth it, they look heaps better in the S bumper than the black inserts. As for light output....meh, dont think they offer alot more than the standard headlights
I stand corrected - and withdraw my earlier comment. In a moment of haste I replied thinking of those piggyback crimp connectors that are used to crimp onto and hook into existing wiring. Clearly crimp lugs is the same as crimp terminals etc, and have a place in this situation.
I stand hat in hand and reflect that clearly, I am a noob.
cheers.

lol its all good, if you are talking about scotch locks then i hate them with a passion too. ive had to rewire plenty of trailer plugs thanks to those stupid connectors
Ah - scotch locks. Never knew what they were called. Yeh - endemic in dodgy trailer installs, but also common in aftermarket foglight/driving light installs.
off topic - omg you still use ICQ ?

Under your name - you have icon - like a green flower.
ICQ is like from before msn. But I guess you don't still use it (or ever did) so nvm![]()
