    Default VY Belt

    Hey Guys.

I Bought 2 Belts for a VX & VY. Gates Part Number 6PK2825
Now From what i have read they are suppose to be 6PK2810, and also 6PK2815, so no clue whats correct now
I guess its 15mm Longer. will this have any affect such as the belt flying off ?
Im pretty pissed now cause this is the 3rd time AutoBarn have made me question them. Twice they have been wrong, and now im thinking this is the 3rd time.
So Does anyone have the same sized belt fitted ?

    Chers

Well fitted them both to the VX & VY and they seem fine, belt tensioner is only about half way used.

I had a look in a Bosch catalogue and it says the 6PK2825 is listed to suit a VT then VX series 1 lists 6PK2825 or 6PK2810 and from then on (VX Series 2 to VY Series 2) it lists the 6PK2810 only so I guess Holdenmade some dimmensional changes to the drive belt system some time into the VX Series 2 run. So your VY needs the 6PK2810 and you'd have to check the VIN with Holden to see which one suits your VX if it's a Series 1 otherwise it also needs the 6PK2825.

Well the belt i took off the VX & VY are both 2811 ?
Fitted the 2825 to both and they are both fine, no difference from where the belt tensioner was before.
already drove 200kms on the VY and running perfect. I looked all over online and seems people fit all kinds of sizes lol
The tensioner still has a lot before its maxed out so don't see what could go wrong lol

As Wortus suggested, Holden must have made changes to pulley dimensions or ancillary placement over the different models, which affected the length required for each belt. Holden would specify the optimum belt length for each configuration, for durability and reliability. As you have found out, different lengths will do the same job but the optimum belt length, ie. the belt fitted to your car originally, will give the best service, (unless it was altered during production to a different length for some reason).

Correct. Slight differences in idler pulley diameter. Physical position remains unchanged from vs-vy.

Well both are running fine, i don't see the issue, if the belt tensioner was maxed out then it would be a issue lol, no belt slips or anything.

If you're not at either extreme of the tensioner indicator then it'll be fine in my opinion. Worst case scenario it may not see as much service as it begins to stretch etc.
