Start the car up with some kind of hissing noise under the hood.
Even more noise when pushing in the accelerator.
Noise has got worse each day...roughly 5 days now.Thinking it may a belt...hoping so!
Hissing noise sounds to me more like an air intake leak somewhere. Have you checked all your piping from air filter box to throttle body? Could even be plenum chamber.
When a belt is slipping, it doesn't really make a 'hissing' noise.
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
Pissed off snake in engine bay?
Yeah I'd say leak, maybe check all the vacuum lines.

Thanks you two, took it down yesty and 3 pulleys need replacing.
Belts were put on wrong causing one pulley to spin wrong way....last time belts were changed was at holden.
Untrained ear tells me it was no hissing noise....supercharge noise he reckons(whirling as you rev)like to know more about this.
Thanks again guys!
Hey there,
Do you know which pulleys they changed as mine is doing the same thing on start up and when I accelerate.
I think it is one of the tensioners type pulley but not 100%.
