The other day i purchased this head unit from JB Hifi the other day, wire it all up using this wiring harness. (Just a note, it's not the head unit, works fine in a mates car)
Everything works great but i dont think the constant 12v is working, everything is wired up perfectly but the head unit will not remember my settings, once the key it out and everything is off, the head unit turns off aswell. Rather than running a wire from the constant 12v of the headunit back to the battery, is there something im missing here?
you have to swap the yellow and red wires in the harness.
well that plug is a HALF ISO plug
so you had to wire it to your cars instrument harness? then plug stereo into it...
or you wired it into stereo and plugged cars harness into it...
i dont remember which way around with a half plug...
but regardless either way you have to check the same things...
basically ISO is a type of plug that changes the cars standard wiring to the stereo manufactures standard layout
there is one wire that should "never" lose power when the ignition is off
and one that gets power when the ignition is on but not when its off
so you need a multimeter and stereo out
and make sure that one wire (prob red) at the iso plug that plugs into your stereo wiring
has 12 volts when ignition on but not when ignition off
and one other wire "memory wire" should have 12 volts ignition on OR off
alot of people get the two the wrong way around
if only one has power ign on but not off and no other wires has power at all
then check all your fuses under the rh dash one is probably blown...
You guys are bloody legends, swapped the yellow and the red and now it's remembering all my settings!
Another question though, this head unit has a Steering Wheel Remote Wire, can i hook this up to my steering wheel controls somehow?
You need to get an interface - like this one you get the one to suit your head unit and it's all good $80 inc postage. Pretty easy to set up.
"You want fast, reliable and cheap ? You'll find a Commodore out there that can provide any two out of those three!"
Couldnt i just plug the Brown wire to the remote wire and ground out the black wire?
yes you need an interace as it changes steering button commands to stereo commands...
