Exhaust on VY SS.

Hello everyone I have a VY SS and have a 2.5 inch exhaust with 2 mufflers. I think a V8 should sould a bit louder. Would I get a better and bigger sound putting a tail pipe with no muffler????

Yes, it will be louder if you remove the rear resonator and fit tail pipes. But it will drone under acceleration if it's an auto.

When I had the rear muffler removed it would drone badly on the highway even with a manual. I had to replace the system because the other two mufflers rusted out. So when I got a new system, I got the rear muffler of the VE fitted and it sounds great now.

My manual one has had the rear muffler removed. Doesn't drone and sounds reasonably nice.

Spend the dollars and get it done properly, not only does it sound better with it done it is also 100% legal.

i have a vy ss im going to chop of the rear muffler this weekend and replace with straight through pipes. i dont think its going to sound bad i have done it before on vx ss but i had cut all mufflers of that and it sounded awesome.and if it does sound shit with the vy i will put in some hotdogs which is still cheaper for now because not everyone has $$$ to do some well known exhaust setup.not once i have been told that my ls1 sound drowny but that they sound like a v8 should..
