Default VY Commodore Sedan - What to look for? Buying second hand.

    hey guys,

found a relatively cheaply priced vy executive sedan.

gonna go take it for a test drive tomorrow.

looks like its had the exhaust done, 18" rims, interior looks clean from pics.
all in all looks like a tidy car.

just wondering if there is anything in particular that i should look out for on one of theses models?

    any tips would be appreciated.

    Cheers,
    -timmo

    These cars had some minor issues it depends to some extent on th build date but off hand;
    rear door leaks
    door locks that get stuck
    inlet manifold gaskets
    power steering shudder
    brake shudder/vibration
    cracks in the radiator

Just check out the owner and see if it sounds like he doesn't flog it and looks after it, make sure it has had regular service and everything done like coolant changes, brake fluid etc.

Check that the rims aren't buckled. Easiest way is get the worst curbed one and get the local tyre shop to spin it up for you

Smell in the car, you will know the off water smell to know if its leaked.
power steering shudder - Power steering leak- Rack Leak/Pump Leak
Checked Transmission fluid, make sure its nice and red, if black transmission may have been abused, ask when the last time it was changed.
Check under the oil cap and check oil to make sure its not milky
Take for test drive, make sure all gears change properly & does not slip.
    check for oily coolant
