hey guys got my car lowered with king lows, shortened shocks, new strut bearing/bush
Now when i turn i can hear a knock noise on the left side also when going over speed bumps And if im stationary i can make the noise slightly by turning the steering wheel.
Its like the spring is moving Or has has lowering the car but stress on something else.
Thanks
were the springs installed at a workshop or you did them yourself??
There is a certain way the top mounting plate goes on and is meant to line up with the spring.
There should have been a "V" notched out on the mounting plate which needs to be facing to the outside of the strut
It was done at a workshop I am trying to get back this week.
The top plate that goes ontop of the spring on the strut has to go on in a certain spot if a rough mechanic doesnt do it right then the spring will turn in the strut, this happened to me in my vs ute i had also the left hand side of the car was 25-30 mm higher then the right once i rectified the problem all was good. I went to pedders and asked them they told me my strut bearings were shagged, even though they replaced them the day before. So I went home and I fixed it myself.
Chances are it's your caster/radius rod bushes.
My VY made a knocking sound for a while when I went over speed bumps or anything.
Ended up that the top mount nut wasnt tight enough (very small movement) but made an annoying knocking sound. Just have to make sure its been tightened on properly
Had a closer look over the weekend and notice the link pin bushes were a bit worn so i changed them then took it for a test drive and upon turning into the driveway noise was still there Left side only. I got someone to turn the wheel for me and could feel movement in the spring alot more then the right side. I can move the left spring side to side with my hand using force. Maybe it just needs some grease. as this movement is causing the noise![]()
Remove spring and you can buy a thin rubber seat for your spring to sit on. stops it from turning. but makes ure car sit around 5-10 mm higher
