    grab one of these
Car Stereo High to Low Level Converter - Jaycar Electronics

and then run you batter and ground wires
and for your remote wire just run it off accessories

Installed one of these a few years back in a mates AU 1 Tonner when he wanted a sub. i connected it to the rear channel from the stock headunit and then ran rca from the converter to a 4 channel amp, bridged two channel for the sub and the other two for the rear speakers. i did try running the speakers and high to low converter in parallel from the head unit but by doing that it put a 2ohm load on the unit and it did get quite warm so set it up as i stated before.

    Hope this helps

Yeah it can deffo be done but you will only get about 60% quality from the sub than if you hooked it up to an aftermarket head unit. Rear channel speakers and RCA converters will do it. If you just want a bit of bass then go for it but if you're after the best then you're better off going aftermarket. I did on my VY and no regrets. New head unit, 1000w amp, 1200w sub, stock speakers, sounds a treat.

I can't really say on how much better the quality could be of hooking up to an aftermarket HU but I installed my subs using a Line Out Converter (aka high-low converter) I bought from repco for $15. Subs sounded just as good running off that than when I had them installed in my old car direct from my after market headunits. Ran it off a sony unit and a eonon dvd unit and sounds exactly the same with my stock HU in my VYII Berlina.

As said, just pick up off your rear door speakers and you're good to go.

That's what I was going to say. It works sweet. I looped wires off the factory headdeck loom from the rear speakers and ran then to the amps high level inputs (same thing).

There's no problem leaving the rear speakers in either. Amp has a very high input impedance. So you get a 4ohm load and a much larger load in parallel the headdeck sees only slightly less than a 4ohm load

I used a High > Low on my VY. As well as the Yellow ACC wire behind headdeck for the remote wire. Ran power through gromit behind steering wheel, along right kick panel, under seats, and into boot through center.

    Works great =)
