I'm looking at buying a USB diagnostic cable of ebay to scan my vy ss for any fault codes. It comes with the cable software and drivers to use on any laptop for any ls1.it going to cost about $100 delivered.
Has anyone tried one of these cables?
Do they work in picking up faults?
I have heard they can do more damage than good.i think it would be a handy tool to have .
This is what you want: MaxiDiag US703 GM/Holden Ford OBD2 Scanner Code Reader | eBay I have one easy to use an understand. Some of those other scanners/cables dont work even though they say they do. this will work 100%.![]()
Take it easy...But do take it...
Do not argue with an IDIOT.
He will just drag you down to his level an beat you with experience.
Some people take me the wrong way, Like smacking up Marijunna.
I bought an ELM327 and use torque app for android via bluetooth. Works well but hasn't found any fault codes. Did find some on another car though. Picks up sensors like MAF intake temp, coolant, rpm, speedo, throttle position. All in realtime. All up cost was $23. Can do gps logging too.
So one like this one yeah?
Would love to get something like this....
That exactly Neodude, then just buy the torque app for android.... or you can use the free one. Not sure if iphone have an app, but would think so.
They also send a disc with the scanner for bluetooth laptops etc use.
Hey ss manual, ive had a look at the phone app it looks pretty good just wondering if you know where I can get the cable from n how much do they cost
You won't need a cable if using the app kezza, search ELM327 or OBD11 on ebay. Make sure you get the bluetooth model adapter. Takes two or three weeks in the post from Honkas or China.
Plugs into the socket located under the steering wheel. Best not to leave it plugged in if you're going to leave the car for any length of time as it draws constant power.
I got one for $17 postage included, app cost just short of five bucks. Not sure they pick up all faults, I unplugged the oil pressure sensor plug and got a "CHECK ENGINE" warning which it didn't pick up on.
I believe OBD11 is more an emission control aspect of the engine. However, I haven't investigated it in detail. The bought app gives max horsepower and can give 0-100, 1/4 mile times.
Hn!, check if the V6 is OBD11 compliant, not sure they are.
Oops - I have a V6 and just bought one ...
