haha i got held back at tafe today...finish at 12 30 tommorrow though
so will have a crack then... if you get a chance to try 2 it'd be great
2 brains are better than one ahah
really keen to see hows these go.. especially if i can get the steering controls working too
IT WORKS! ... Ground black and yellow wire from car harness, ground headunits swc black wire and connect swc1 to brown car harness wire
Thanks to all that have helped![]()
Leave swc2, and yeah they do but my volume up and down are recognised as the same button but I think the buttons themselves are ####ed coz my stock headunit did the sameanyone know a fix?
I am in the same boat as you mate - both volume buttons turn volume up - no other button recognised.
head unit has swc1 and swc2
factory harness has rem (brown) and rem gnd (black/yellow)
if connect swc2 to brown (rem) wire volume goes all the way up without touching anything. (swc not connected and rem gnd not connected)
if connect swc1 to brown (rem) wire and swc2 to rem gnd wire then both vlume buttons turn volume up.
none of the buttons are recognised by the head units setup program
My thinking is that the steering wheel controls are not compatible with the unit and an interface is required ?

hey there i got all my buttons working but one (because the volume up and down button are recognised as the same button)... so ive got mine set up with the SWC volume down button to turn the headunit down and if i want to turn it up i just use the head unit...
You could always program it to have the volume up working if you wanted... but for the sake of a single button i wouldn't buy a interface![]()
My eonon unit is D2216. It has 2 SWC wires - key1 (brown) and key 2(green)
I Have no trouble locating the factory harness wires rem(brown) and rem gnd(black/white)
No combination of connecting between the 2 wires from the head unit and the 2 points on the factory harness result in anything that the units setup program detect as a key press. I have tried earthing the harness rem gnd and alternately earthing both the headunits key wires - and every combination of earth and the 2 wires and 2 points on the factory harness. If I earth the brown wire volume goes upupupup and stays there. if I connect the 2 wires to the 2 points (no earth) then both volume buttons send the volume up (but setup program does not detect keypress)
I am currently feeling a little buyers remorse - the factory head unit was pretty good with the vlad ipod interface modification and the swcontrols working.
I find the interface on the eonon 'clunky' and poorly designed. There is potential for such great things from the existing featureset that are just not utilised. The sound and screen are both great, so as far as it goes great value for money.
Perhaps I'll find an answer on google...
cheers

use rem (brown) to the headunits brown wire (key 1) and earth the black/yellow wire maybe?
Hmmm...
How about the other way around?
Or with either the brown wire and black/yellow to the headunits 2 wires?
I have totally tried every combination of two wires on the unit and 2 wires on the car harness - with or without every combination of earthing things out.
I currently have up volume (by pressing either of the volume buttons on the steering wheel) but none of the presses register in the units swc setup routine.

No good maybe the insyerface is the way to go... Maybe email them (eonon) and complain and you mmight get some money back![]()
lol - I doubt there is margin for payouts! Worst case scenario is an interface that mimics the remote control - but to pay $80 odd to control a $200unit seems bad economics. My current feeling is that I'll make do and upgrade the unit in the future. I could always tape the remote to the steering wheel ;-)

im pretty sure Nic92 got some money back coz his headunit couldnt pick up any tv channelsbut yeah idk

Oldish thread but if anyone else is reading solved the prob in my focus remote !!
I connected the positive wire from the eonon to the positive from the steering stalk!
I then had to connect the ground wire from the eonon to the ground wire from the stalk BUT I also had to connect the ground wire from
the stalk and the eonon to the eonon case to ground it there also ?? all is working fine! just set the button in the settings on the eonon and all are
working as they should.
