    It's a festoon type bulb. Unsure of size but easy to find out. Just measure it.

    Something like that would suit. Check the size first to make sure you're buying the right one.

    As DUK13Y mentioned, its a Festoon Bulb. I just measured mine and its approx 42-43mm. Anything other than white will probably not give you as much light though. A link is below for the festoon bulb that you need;

    A good idea is to firstly remove the interior illumination fuse which is located behind the panel underneath the steering wheel. Reason being is because you can short out the fuse if you touch the body of the car with the metal globe holder while removing from boot.

    Alternatively, you can drill a small hole into the plastic cover, buy an led strip like this one, then solder on the positive and negative wires to the correct poles of the festoon mount, poking the wires through the small hole you made and simply gluing the strip to the top so you cant see the lights directly without bending over. Would be nice and bright and quite easy to do. Easy to remove too if you wanted.

    I have used a 12 LED panel (link below) and soldered the wires onto the positive and negative of the original wires. The LED panel comes with double sided tape already and I stuck it up a little higher just behind where the original light is. Gives the whole boot perfect coverage of a bright white light. Can take pics if required. All wiring and the LED panel is totally hidden unless you stick your head in the boot and look up.

    I have done this mod to a few friends cars which include VY's and VZ's.

    Just took some pics of mine. As you can see, the wiring and light is hidden unless your head is looking up from inside the boot.

    I didn't take pics of the light output as it can be very deceiving with a camera. The LED panel creates a really nice bright, white, full and even coverage of the entire boot.

    Its looks like alot of tape, but I just didn't want anything to snag on the wires. As I said, it can't be seen from outside of boot. Fairly simple and effective mod IMO

    Thought I would add my efforts to the thread. Many thanks to HoldenOnn for his help with the conception of the idea and also answers to my many questions about it.

    The result...

    Like HoldenOnn already stated, a full, bright, white light that evenly covers the boot is achieved. There is no comparison to the standard light. This is superior in all aspects. A little bit of basic soldering is required as are basic crimping skills but it is completely worth it.

    Thanks again Matt for all your help
