    Question VY vs VZ Clubsport

    G'day all.

Time is drawing near where the current ride will be replaced. I've been looking at the VZ SS however the missus has me interested in the Clubsports. Looking at a VY or VZ. I have searched the web but can't find much about the differences between them.

    Could you kind folk assist?

What is the difference between the VY and VZ Clubsports?

    Cheers,

    VY s1 260kw LS1
    VY s2 285kw LS1
    and the winner is:
VZ 297 LS2 and m12 manual has a different ratio gearbox compared to VY clubby
    slight bodykit modifications

Just remember insurance rises with anything stamped with HSV

If you have the choice the VZ is the clear winner. with the LS2 and i personally think they look better.

so easy to squeeze 350kw out of.

If it isnt tuckin, it must be suckin

i prefer the look of the vy but then its hard to go past the ls2

at the end of the day buy the car your going to be happy with even if its less powerful... you'll still be part of the v8 clan so you wont have to worry about people hanging $hit on you when you start discussing upgrades lol

Cheers. I love the look of the VY compared to the VZ. The LS2 is very tempting though. Depends on what is available when I am ready to purchase I guess.

I'd be more than happy with either LS1 or LS2. Not looking to modify it (too much) but sure the bug will bite!

In std form the LS2 is a much better engine than the LS1, the 6.0L has way better torque for everyday driving than any of the 5.7L even the C4B 300 LS1.
Another choice if insurance is a problem with owning a HSV is a series 2 VZ SS or Calais with the 6.0L although the Calais only comes in auto.

VZ Clubsport hands down... no bias

But yeah, the LS2 is the starting point of the reasons I would get it over a VY.

I also prefer the front bar on the VZ over the VY.

The rest in terms of interior, equipment, etc is pretty similar. EG, VY R8 and VZ R8 are pretty much the same car other than the engine. Brakes are bigger on the VZ if you get one with the AP Racing kit but my VZ has the same Harrops as the VY had and they stop well enough.

Ok thanks for the info thus far but please keep it coming.
There's a VZ down the road I may just have to test drive. It's an auto and again i'm not too concerned but would prefer a manual as I missed out when buying the XR. There isn't too much difference to the VZ/VY kit. I think the VY is a bit more chiseled looking with the cut outs.

Will have to get up close an personal to each model and go from there.

Thanks again guys. May not be such an easy decision to make. But then again, buying a car never is!

    Shall do.
Getting in early and researching each model so I can pick them to bits and really decide what I want.
Quite a few nice examples out there at the moment too.....if only i was in the market now oh well. In time.

Lol you make it sound like the ls1 doesn't have enough torque? speaking from experience i have NEVER had a day when i was driving to work and missed the extra torque of the LS2. my daily being a vy ss ute and weekender being a Z series senator.

The power doesn't bother me either. I'm not that big into it having a BF XR6, Pontiac Firebird (305) and Acclaim. I'm not looking to do track days etc so lack of power doesn't concern me at all. I can always cam, chip etc. when the bug bites.

Thanks again for the comments guys.

Hi guys and gals. Well circumstances have changed somewhat. I'm going to be a daddy again so the Clubsport dream will be put on hold for now. Looking at an SS for the time being which i'm more than ok with.

I love the VX and VZ SS. I know that both have major differences too considering the VZ 2 has the 6ltr and interior etc differences. Anyways, I'll probably ask more questions etc in the coming month and let you all know which way I head.

Cheers and thanks for the above comments. Much appreciated.

Well while out coasting around I saw a Black on Black VY SS which pretty much suits my needs and wants down to the exact.
Hopefully I can stitch a decent deal and have it in my drive this week all depending on what it is like up close and personal of course.

    I hate the waiting game
