Is it possible to get the vz style digital speedo on the lcd screen?
yes.. need a yech 2 programmer to do it.. and you need to enable police mode on the tech 2
ASR (forum sponsor) provides this service
Android phone (iphone also?) with free speedo ap - you can do heads up display mode also (works best at night)
Not what the OP asked, just saying![]()
"You want fast, reliable and cheap ? You'll find a Commodore out there that can provide any two out of those three!"
hold down "mode" and "set" put key in ignition and start car. you will gain a heap more menus in the computer display and one of them is a digital speedo. (note you will have to do this each time you start the car, will reset to default once car is turned off) you can make it a permanent read out on your display by seeing a holden dealer though.
It also has instantaneous fuel consumption in that menu as well which is pretty cool![]()
can you get the instantaneous fuel consumption programmed to stay on with the tech 2 programmer?
Yeah just make sure you get one from a VY (not VZ), and the same series as your car. They changed the fuel sender between series 1 and 2 so if you get the wrong series cluster the fuel gauge goes backwards lol.
series 2 onwards have a reverse signal fuel sender.. so if you have a vy series 1 with a vz cluster for instance you just need a vz fuel sender

I took me ages to find a dealer here in NZ that would believe me this could be done. I eventual found one that did it for me (Charged me $40). Went into a menu, turned Police mode On, and that's it. One dealer tried to tell me it disabled alot of things like seat belt warnings etc. and that I wasn't a police office and they wouldn't do it for me. Another told me $130 with anything involving a Tech2. I got lucky on the third time, just had to wait 45min for a tech to be free.(I'm not sure if my seat-belt warning worked when I got car or not. It is a ex cop car after all)
Works like a charm, I love knowing exactly what speed I'm doing.
what does the over speed menu do?? stupid question prob but never looked into it
Its the feature where you dial in a speed and the dash beeps when you reach it
i have a vy series 2 ss and it allready has a big speed reading in the LCD panel .. is this a normal feature of the series 2 ? or has mine been modified ?
Series 2 VY onwards had digital speedometers as standard
